I was tasked with leading the design and creative direction for a brand-new digital magazine for Boxing Social.

I was responsible for designing all 42 pages, whilst also pitching the idea for each edition to feature a bespoke illustrated cover. For each magazine, I’d aim to create a unique and engaging concept and collaborate with an illustrator to bring it to life.

For this first edition, which focused on the heavyweight division, I drew inspiration from the hit Western film ‘The Hateful Eight’ by Quentin Tarantino. I developed a movie poster-style concept, reimagining it as ‘The Hurtful 8’ to reflect the eight contenders battling for supremacy at the time.

The concept was brought to life through the awesome illustrative work of Callum Seymour and it proved to be a resounding success. I then used these illustrations to create a range of assets used across social media for these upcoming bouts, which were shared far and wide, including posts by the boxers themselves.
